Join us for the launch of Love Hound by Jacob Saenz with special guests Ann Hudson and Kenyatta Rogers at Haymarket House.

From the first poem’s dog bite to the closing heartbeat, Love Hound explores the deep & complex ways relationships inform & affirm who we are. Family shows up for one another in life & in death without question, through a pandemic, across distance & screens. Marriage is a dead bachelor, a Prince mixtape, an ode to a belly button & green eyes. The poems in this collection offer love as an elixir to war, the violence of ICE, & to confronting the “cracks / in the foundation” of our country. Love Hound beats & barks with an edgy heart. Jacob Saenz’s tight, musically-driven poems craft pathways toward tenderness & insist that family—in all its forms—offers a way forward.

***The program will be followed by a reception with light refreshments and books will be for sale. We encourage attendees to wear masks for the safety of our speakers and other guests.***
