Join us Tuesday, October 27th for a Films for a Changing World double feature! We will be screening the 1974 documentary short Now We Live on Clifton and Tess Lacy's 2025 documentary, Two Summers on Hayes Avenue. The film will be followed by a discussion led by housing organizer, Dordie Hester. Doors open at 6:00 PM. Snacks and refreshments will be served and all proceeds from the screening will go towards supporting the work of ONE Northside.

About the Films
NOW WE LIVE ON CLIFTON follows 10 year old Pam Taylor and her 12 year old brother Scott around their multiracial West Lincoln Park neighborhood. The kids worry that they'll be forced out of the neighborhood they grew up in by the gentrification following the expansion of DePaul University.

TWO SUMMERS ON HAYES AVENUE examines the relationship between Rogers Park and Loyola University, looking to the future on how the university can better support the community, and how the community can better examine issues of gentrification and displacement in light of the current environment.

Dordie Hester (she/her) is a housing justice community organizer at ONE Northside who marshals the forces of grassroots leadership, public officials, lawyers, service agencies, and housing providers with great results, including Saving the Leland Hotel.

About the Series
Haymarket Books is proud to present the next installment in our community film series: Films for a Changing World. We envision this community film series to be a place for people to come together in community during this volatile political moment. In times like these, our struggle to change the world can feel even more difficult to sustain and we hope these events will be a space to share a collective cultural experience and connect with one another.
