Join us to celebrate the release of Radical Mothering: Caregiving and Resistance Across Prison Walls at Haymarket House.
Radical Mothering was born out of the everyday lives of Mothers of the Kidnapped (part of the MAMAS Collective in Chicago), a group of primarily Black and Latiné working-class people who care for and defend incarcerated survivors of torture and frame-ups by the Chicago police. The more we center and politicize the collective practices of mother-activists, the closer we move toward a world without cages, without disposability, without state violence. The event will feature conversations about the project as well as readings from the book.
Following the program, there will be a reception with light refreshments as well as books for sale. Masks are encouraged for the safety of all attendees and speakers. Childcare is also available, please just share more information in your registration about your childcare needs so we can plan accordingly.

Speakers:
Nadine Naber and Erica Bentley are co-directors of Mamas Activating Movements for Abolition & Solidarity (MAMAS)- a decolonial, abolitionist reproductive justice collective centering the struggles and strategies of mothers and caregivers in liberation movements. We believe that those who do mothering and care work in the face of policing, fascism, and war offer the wisdom and strategies needed for our collective freedom dreams.
The Mothers Of The Kidnapped (MOK) are April Ward, Armanda Shackelford, Bertha Escamilla, Christina Borizov, Denice Bronis, Denise Spencer, Regina Russell, Rosemary Cade, and Valerie Neal.
MOK is a Chicago-based group of MAMAS who are mothering and caring for survivors of Chicago police torture and frame-ups. As mother-activists, we provide mutual aid and support for each other, healing and transforming our communities, while advocating and fighting to free our loved ones.
